Nancy Burton-Volovic
ESTATES LAWYER
Nancy has a love of estate planning and enjoys helping people define their wishes and legacies. With an understanding that some clients are less mobile than others when they get around to doing estate planning, she will go to hospitals, nursing homes, and private homes, as well as in-office and Zoom meetings. She is also often called upon to do estate administration, helping clients who have experienced a death and require help with probate applications and other responsibilities of estate executors, and in the case of contentious matters, she also represents clients in estate litigation.
Nancy graduated with a BA from the University of Toronto in 1979, after which she moved to Sarnia and taught “Introduction to Non-Traditional Occupations” at Lambton College. In 1981, she returned to the University of Toronto (OISE) and acquired an MEd in Adult Education and Counseling, after which she became the national trainer for Volkswagen Canada (Volkswagen Audi Porsche), traveling across the country bringing the magic of that new device, the microcomputer, to all staff and driving all the Porsches she could wangle. Eventually, she became a systems training consultant, a career she kept up until she decided to make a hard left turn and become a paralegal, working in a civil litigation firm. She then decided that law was more fun with a larger scope and went to Osgoode Hall Law School. She graduated in 2017 and was called to the Bar in 2018. Nancy has been serving clients in both estates and civil litigation capacities ever since.
In her spare time, she enjoys murder mysteries, especially ones with graphic forensic details, and avoiding the gym except for the massage chairs.
