Dorothy Dinh Chan

Dorothy is an articling student at Lighthouse Family Law LLP. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, where she developed a strong interest in family law and in helping individuals navigate the challenges that arise during periods of family transition.

During law school, Dorothy summered at the Family Responsibility Office, where she gained practical experience in child and spousal support enforcement and the complexities that can arise following separation. She further developed her interest in family law through an independent research project during her final year of law school, examining parental alienation and the challenges it presents in high-conflict parenting disputes. These experiences have shaped the qualities Dorothy hopes to bring to her work, including empathy, careful attention to detail, and an understanding of each client’s unique circumstances.

In law school, Dorothy was the recipient of the renewable Staffieri Family Scholarship in Law (Women in STEM) and a two-time recipient of the Cannonbury Foundation’s Spring Grant. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (Ontario) since 2024. Through her academic, professional, and community involvement, Dorothy has continued to strengthen her legal research, writing, and communication skills.

Outside of the office, Dorothy enjoys spending time with her husband and son, trying new restaurants, and exploring new places with her family. Dorothy is also fluent in Vietnamese.
